Turbo multiuser detection with unknown interferers

چکیده
We consider the problem of turbo multiuser detection for synchronous and asynchronous code-division multiple-access (CDMA) in the presence of unknown users. Turbo multiuser detectors, as previously developed, typically require knowledge of the signature waveforms of all of the users in the system and ignore users whose signature sequences are unknown, e.g., users outside the cell. In this paper we develop turbo multiuser detection for CDMA uplink systems and other environments in which the receiver has knowledge of the signature waveforms of only users. Subspace techniques are used to estimate the interference from the unknown users and the interference estimate is subtracted from the received signal. We will see that the new receiver significantly outperforms the conventional turbo multiuser receiver for moderate and high signal-to-noise ratios. It is also seen that the traditional turbo receiver provides little gain through iteration when unknown users are present.

Blind multiuser detection via interference identification
Previous results on blind multiuser detection apply in situations where the signal parameters of the users of interest are known, and those of the interferers are unknown. In this paper, we consider the new paradigm of an -user system, in which users are active, and the problem is to detect users of interest out of those active users when the signal parameters (codes, amplitudes) of the users o...
متن کاملAsymptotic Capacity of Static Multiuser Channels with an Unknown Number of Users
We examine a multiple-access communication system in which multiuser detection is performed without knowledge of the number of active interferers. Using a statistical-physics approach, we compute the single-user channel capacity and spectral efficiency in the large-system limit.
متن کاملTurbo Multiuser Detection Architectures
The discovery of Turbo Codes in 1996 by Berrou et. al. proved to be a huge boost for the research of channel coding. The Turbo Principle behind turbo codes was found to be applicable in other areas. One of these areas is Multiuser Detection. In this thesis, Turbo Multiuser Detection is investigated in order to answer two main questions. The questions concern the performance gain that is obtaine...
متن کاملBlind turbo multiuser detection for long-code uplink CDMA with unknown interferences
We consider the problem of demodulating the multiuser symbols in an uplink long-code CDMA system in the presence of unknown out-cell multiple-access interference and narrowband interference. A novel blind Bayesian multiuser detector is derived based on the Bayesian inference of all unknown quantities. The Gibbs sampler, a Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) procedure, is then used for Bayesian comp...

GOEL,VIVEK. Semi-blind turbo detection for Multiple-input Multiple-output wireless systems. (Under the direction of Dr. Huaiyu Dai) Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques constitute the core of future high speed wireless systems. Blind detection in MIMO wireless systems conserves bandwidth and is better suited for use in multiple user scenarios. Since, most of the modern wireless comm...
